Dr. Nirmal Mazumder: He received his Master of Science in Physics from Tezpur University, India in 2009. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in 2013 from National Yang-Ming University, Taiwan. He worked as post-doctoral research associate at University of Virginia, USA and Italian Institute of Technology, Genoa, Italy during 2013 to 2016. In 2016, he joined the Department of Biophysics, Manipal School of Life Sciences, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal, India as an Assistant Professor. Currently, he is working on the investigation of structural and chemical characterization of starch granules from various sources. His research interests also relate to microscopy and spectroscopy techniques, biomedical device, biophotonics, smart materials and microfluidics.

Ishita Chakraborty: She received her Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology from Christ University, Bangalore, Karnataka, India in 2017 and Master of Science in Botany from St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Bangalore, India in 2019. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D at Manipal School of Life Sciences, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal, Karnataka, India. She is working on thermal analysis of rice starches and development of rice starch-based bioplastic. Her interests lie in plant biochemistry, and starch-based polymer development.

Indira Govindaraju: She received her Bachelor of Science in 2016 from Sahyadri Science College, Shimoga, Karnataka, India and Master of Science in Biochemistry in 2018 from Kuvempu University, Karnataka, India. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. on ‘Structural and Chemical Characterization of Starch Granules using Microscopy and Spectroscopy Techniques’ at Manipal School of Life Sciences, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal, Karnataka, India. Her research interests are food biochemistry as well as microscopy and spectroscopic techniques.

Vishwajyoti Baruah: He received his Bachelor of Science in 2006 in Zoology from Darrang College, Guwahati University, Assam followed by Master of Science from Tezpur University, Tezpur, Assam in 2009. Currently he holds the position of Assistant Professor at Dibrugarh University, Assam.

Bhaswati Sarmah: She received her Master of Science from Assam Agricultural University in 2012 in plant breeding and genetics. She was recently awarded Research Fellowship and by the World Bank Funded National Agricultural Higher Education Project, Indian Council of Agricultural Research to undertake research and training at Cornell University, USA. She currently holds the position of junior scientist at Assam Agricultural University.
